The Rise Of Dark Humor In India

The youth of India is becoming insensitive day by day. Instagram comments are getting darker and darker every day.
Dark humor is a concept that Western countries are familiar with, and now it is also being seen in India.

You may ask what exactly dark humor is. And what a sense of humor is.
A sense of humor is nothing but the ability to make people laugh and be funny and humorous. Dark humor is a style of comedy where serious and sensitive information or incidents are conveyed funnily.

Stand-up comedians are one of the reasons for Rise of Dark humor. In foreign countries, some stand-up comedians used to talk about vulgar and sensitive parts of society to spread awareness with their humor. And then the internet came into existence. Platforms like Twitter and Reddit gave a boost to the rise of dark humor all over the world.

Meme culture in India was basic before COVID-19. But after COVID, the rise of dark humor is seen in the meme culture of India. Memers have started adding dark humor to their memes.

This made people comfortable to show their EVIL side to the world. Due to dark humor, people are comfortably showing their evil side on platforms without caring about the feelings of the victim person. Dark humor is not bad if done within the limit but when it is done without any limits, it is a serious problem.

People started making fun of the disabled person and other social matters like rape, mass killing, or targeting one religion etc.
Which is not even funny. People got the opportunity to share their evil side here. Because more darker and evil comments you write, the more appreciation you would get in return.

It turned into cyberbullying. People were laughing at the intensity of the evilness of the joke. Social media is filled with toxicity where trolling someone brutally is a trend and evilness has become mainstream. In reality that's the other face of people that they hide in real life due to the LAW and society.

That's a reality check. If no rules and regulations then humans can forget humanity because they get encouragement in the form of likes and comments. Some people are not bad in real life, but due to peer pressure, they also do the same.

"Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it."
- Mike Tyson

I don't have any problem with the people who use dark humor or represent it but the problem is when people make fun of the existence of another person. They troll and bully the person. And name it dark humor. It is not a dark humor, it is cruelty toward humanity.

Let's meet again in the next blog, where we'll delve into new topics, explore fresh perspectives, and continue this journey of discovery together. Until then, take care, follow your dreams, and embrace the beauty of time's flow. See you soon!

Thanks,
Armaan.
